No Need to Knead – bread recipe
There is a world wide shortage of yeast because nearly everyone wants to be baker! My mom shared this super easy bread recipe with me. There are 4 ingredients and as many steps.
Kneading is replaced with patience… waiting. This bread requires a simple mixing of ingredients and then allowing the bread to rise for 18 hours. Earn your baker badge while you sleep!
This recipe does require a pot or dutch over for baking. Our everyday cast iron pot was perfect.
INGREDIENTS
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon active dry yeast
1 1/2 cups water at room temperature
- Form dough. Mix dry ingredients and add water. Stir water with spatula or wooden spoon. Cover tightly with plastic wrap and leave on counter to rise for 12 to 18 hours.
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees farenheiht. Place the Dutch Oven in the oven while it heats. The recipe requires the Dutch Oven to be hot when the dough is placed inside. When your oven is pre-heated the pot should be hot enough as well. Remove the pot (using oven mits) and remove the lid.
- Shape dough into ball using floured hands. Sprinkle flour on the dough as well. Form the dough into a ball. Sprinkle flour on the bottom of the pot as well. Take the ball of dough and drop it into the pot. Replace the lid and place the pot in the oven.
- Bake the Bread for 30 minutes with the lid on. Remove the lid and bake for another 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Remove bread from pot, it should slide out easily. Allow to cool and enjoy!
