Urban Hiking
Our friends, Evan and Sarah, invited us on a hike with a caveat, we won’t be leaving town. And it was terrific.
Pete and I strapped June into the carrier and headed to Fairfield where we could be meeting. Within five minutes of the “hike” we were basically bouldering up the side of a rock mountain. The top delivered a precious and perfect 360 view (well maybe 270) of the Pacific Ocean, and Clover Point — a special spot for us that we visit weekly but only up close.
June enjoyed the ride and was laughing and giggling at Yogi’s every move. Yogi is Sarah and Evan’s pup well large fluffy Australian shepherd mixed with another dog I can’t remember… a big one I’m sure.
The hike continued through narrow allies and quaint neighbourhoods. The feel was European and at times I was flashing back to my earlier days of hiking and exploring in foreign towns around the world.
We ended together at the Governor’s mansion where the grounds were impeccable and a Victory of Covid-19 garden was flourishing.
Thanks Evan and Sarah for the urban adventure! And remember — exploring is always possible!
